As my Bachelor Graduation Project I created a critical fashion fanzine, as a response to the traditional commercial fashion magazines. Fashion magazines has for centuries taught females to spend time and effort on appearance and to disvalue ourselves through being exposed to dehumanizing images of women that stem from a male gaze.
As a response, I created Rewrite in hope of adding a voice to the already exisiting movement which currently rewrites gender norms within fashion. I reached out to people working with fashion and critical design, such as Ida Klamborn, Sam Nowell, Hana Holquist, Sara Kaaman and Tomas Gunnarsson.
Designwise, I decided to move away from the commercial aesthetic to gain a craftier feeling. This also includes the color choices, since I during my research realized that white spreads are most common as a base for fashion magazines. The color choices also helped me to add a warm and welcoming feeling to the zine.
